Here are my top ten threats to the United States in the next 5-10 years. They are in priority order based on a combination of likelihood and impact.
Please comment if you think the order is wrong or you have other threats not mentioned on my list.
1. Islamo-fascist jihad – there is no end in sight to terrorism and a nuclear weapon in terrorist hands would be devastating.
2. Socialist health care – taxpayer-funded, government-controlled health care would drive huge costs, rationing and poor quality
3. Illegal immigration – sucks up American jobs, drains entitlement funding and poses a potential security threat
4. Multiculturalism – keeps people from assimilating, creates polarized groups and is the antitheses of the “melting pot” that made this a great country
5. Man-made global warming sham – big risk that the federal government will implement costly legislation to try and control something they can’t control
6. Liberal activist judges – they continue to set precedents that have no basis in the Constitution
7. No Congressional term limits – career politicians make decisions that will get them reelected and don’t do what’s best for the country
8. Same-sex marriage – the slippery slope to opening up marriage to all types of relationships and a likely tear in our societal fabric.
9. Social Security – when retiring boomers outnumber the working stiffs, this Ponzi scheme will come crashing down
10. Comet hitting the earth – maybe I’m watching too much of the National Geographic channel…
